    • I would like to see some trap cards.

    • Easier opponents. Or maybe some different characters like actual magicians in real life.

    • Solid game idea that pretty much works.

What types of enemies would you like to see added to the game?

Some easy characters that can be defeated pretty easily that way I can understand the game a little bit more.

Does the overall movement of the affection slider feel good?

It looks good and feels good. Really satisfying.

Is there any other additions you would like to see?

Maybe when defeating enemies, you can learn some card tricks if they have better cards being stronger in some way.

I think it looks really great!

What cards/upgrades would you like to see?

I can't really think of new card ideas, unfortunately.

What types of enemies should be added to the game?

I think it's not about extra enemies, honestly. My comment on this would be more about understanding what you're getting into as a player when going into the different rooms. I got utterly crushed in room 3, but playing through room 1 was a breeze. Room 2 was a Goldilocks balance. While it may have just been coincidental chance that room 3 annihilated me, it was definitely fun trying vainly to come back from my opponent gaining tons more affection than I ever could.

Does the movement of the affection slider feel good?

Yes. I don't have much to say on this one, honestly.

Are there any other additions you would like to see?

Yes. That is where the majority of my commentary lies. When the player opens a menu for either the clothes menu or the food menu, I would like to see the text change to "escape" so the player knows how to exit their menu. Either that or just have the player press p or c (depending on the menu) to exit as well as enter the menus. Also, in room 3 where I got crushed, I, of course, lost the thing but it still gave me the cash reward and win screen. I assume that is just a minor detail that you will change to a loss screen later, but if it is a bug, consider this my report on it. I also noticed in your character model, his belt buckle is missing. I could see right through him to the floor, which I thought was kind of funny. My last comment has to do with the randomization. Because of the fact that it seems like a new hand is drawn every time you play a card, setting up a move comes down to luck of the draw and not strategy. This is massively annoying especially when I would go to prime the audience or set up a distraction and I wouldn't draw the card I needed to get the payoff. This is exacerbated more when the hand I had when I played the prime/distract card had the payoff. It takes away so much from the strategy and I hope you guys change it. The full randomization just was not cutting it.

Otherwise, your game is coming along great! I love it so far!

  • What types of cards or upgrades would you like to see?

I would like to see unique decks for unique enemies, and maybe when you defeat them you can learn from them and unlock their deck to use

  • What types of enemies would you like to see added to the game?

I really like the characters that appear in the lobby, so hopefully they can be added

  • Does the overall movement of the affection slider feel good?

I think it's a lot more satisfying, especially with the current balance of the cards

  • Is there any other additions you would like to see?

I think that the lose message might actually be displaying the win message

I love the addition of the lobby and the characters you see in it!

Great start! I like how the beginning of the game guided me to the store and the main gameplay  without being an obvious tutorial.

  • What types of cards or upgrades would you like to see?
I don't think I can give specific input on the cards I'd like to see without playing either a "simpler" opponent to get a sense of how to use the existing cards. The existing timing didn't give me the chance to understand the ramifications of playing the different cards, so I ended up clicking the same cards over and over. I ended up winning every time without knowing what I was doing.
  • What types of enemies would you like to see added to the game?
An enemy that would give me a chance to understand the game a little bit better.
  • Does the overall movement of the affection slider feel good?
Hmmm...I think I missed the slider. Perhaps finding a way to make it more obvious that it exists could be useful.
  • Is there any other additions you would like to see?
Refinement of main game mechanics and more thought into the balance of the existing cards. Otherwise, great start!
  • What types of cards or upgrades would you like to see?

  • What types of enemies would you like to see added to the game?

Harder enemies I just click my best/random and won 100% of the battles.

  • Does the overall movement of the affection slider feel good?

If this is the slider in the battles. I feel like it should have micro movements when the other player is doing there turn so you know that the audience loves them. (or it takes longer for there turn to happen so you feel like something is happening)

  • Is there any other additions you would like to see?

A bad reaction to a good trick by etherer(may be a 50/50)  a trap card or an audance love for another magic guy.

I really enjoyed seeing how much progress was made. I was looking at the test questions and they seem to be the same as before so most of what I said before still holds.

Great work!

I did notice one bug. When the player enters a battle it shows the default text of  something like "Player card move text"

Guys, this was such an adorable game! I think the concept of winning over an audience with magic moves rather than taking the "I can fly on a broom!" route was pretty brave and it ended up paying off. I also loved the billboard art style of the people in your lobby as well. I would have never come up with that style to use in a game. So seeing it in action and seeing it work so well for a game was really something.

What types of cards or upgrades would you like to see?

There are so many ways that you can go with the cards so you have lots of options here. At least for me, you could start basing things off of real magic tricks, such as being a psychic (when you're really using a mind-reading spell) or using telekinesis (when it's actually a simple object moving spell). You could start getting ridiculous and interesting spells too, like maybe making a pig fly and call the card "When pigs fly". Honestly, your team has a lot of options to explore and to go off of, but those are just some ideas that came off the top of my head if I was working on it.

What types of enemies would you like to see added to the game?

I think it could be different magicians, but they all start looking more put together and sophisticated as the levels progress, both in appearance and in posessing spells that maybe the player has either not mastered or that is off-limits to the player. This could create increase the difficulty overtime.

Does the overall movement of the affection slider feel good?

I like the animation of the slider! And it very clearly shows who has the upper hand at any moment. I would suggest maybe just doing a simple text display underneath each player's bar as well to show exactly how many points each player has at a time.

Is there any other additions you would like to see?

It'd be cool to give the opposing magicians some sort of personality or character! It could just be an easily generated script before each match about them. How skilled are they? Maybe they've won over 4 audiences in one night. Maybe they specialize in a rare type of magic that the player themselves don't. Maybe their name as a magician is known throughout the world? It also creates some intimidation in the player as well, as most games do when the levels get harder and the boss enemies get tougher. But that's just a thought on my end.

Loved this game. I like the concept of magicians battling for the crowds affection.

Adding audio would be a great next step to breathe some more life into the game.

It would be nice to add some fx to build tension during the battle. Showing some visuals & audio as the audience's affections grows or shrinks.

I enjoyed using some of the riskier cards, (distract the audience for example). But I didn't like it when I distracted the audience, and then didn't get the high affection card that gives an extra bonus the next turn if they're distracted. Maybe instead of randomizing the cards that appear, you could add a skill based interaction mechanic when performing tricks? Paper mario games do this well, by adding moments where you have to perform a timing based interaction to get a higher / lower payoff. It's a risk / reward trade off. Riskier magic tricks could lead to more affection, but be harder to pull off.

  • What types of cards or upgrades would you like to see?

I want to be able to sabotage my opponent and react to what they are doing. Right now I completely ignore the opponent and just try to min/max affection. Perhaps I could steal affection if I correctly predict what class of trick they do?

I would also like if tricks had some sort of specialization. The "alignment" mechanic present in many deck builders could help give these tricks a cohesive feel. I want to be able to choose to be a slight of hand magician or a grand showman or mentalist, etc.

  • What types of enemies would you like to see added to the game?

As above, right now I don't care about the enemy at all. The only difference I would notice is how quickly their bar goes up. With alignments, enemies could specialize in different tricks types. Perhaps enemies could even steal my tricks, removing them from my deck (or even collection)

  • Does the overall movement of the affection slider feel good?

No. Swings feel rapid. I don't feel like I'm winning or losing an audience. I quickly gave up on the slider and focused on my own bar.

  • Is there any other additions you would like to see?

Currently P/C opens the shops and Escape closes them. That does not feel intuitive to me.  I would like the same button to close the shop and preferably the same button to open each shop.

Returning to the same lobby feels a little underwhelming. I would like to move on to bigger and better theaters as my prestige grows. Or perhaps certain tricks play better to certain audiences and I'll need to adjust my deck accordingly.

Story wise, I'd like a once-great-but-now-forgotten mentor and a shadowy figure that promises to be the final boss.

I would like a compendium where I can see my tricks and the tricks my opponents have used against me.

I would like some way to build my deck.

I would like to be able to combine tricks, playing multiple in one turn at the cost of additional energy.

Overall, I love the hell out of the concept of this game. Deckbuilding games have been about Magic since Magic: the Gathering, but the subversion of making it about magic *shows* is brilliant. I even love the cheesy artwork. I say lean into the amateur magician feel. Don't be afraid to borrow elements from other deckbuilders or even from games like Pokemon.

  • What types of cards or upgrades would you like to see?

Maybe some chance cards? Or cards that depend on what your opponent played which would add some strategy to the game. Also the potential to reduce your opponent's affection meter.

  • What types of enemies would you like to see added to the game?

I suppose different themed enemies could be cool (with card sets that suit them). For example you have the artwork for a wizard and clown in the lobby, so those as enemies could be neat.

  • Does the overall movement of the affection slider feel good?

I found the two sliders fairly confusing. Not sure what effect the top slider (Audience Affection) has on the game.

  • Is there any other additions you would like to see?

Sound/Music! I'd really like a way to close the shop menus that is clear to the user (besides guessing the esc key would work)

I liked the stage fight lighting/art work!

As a side note some of the spooky characters made my dog growl at the screen :P

  • What types of cards or upgrades would you like to see?

- It would be cool to see another deck of cards that could be used to enhance your abilities to sabotage the other person's affection.

  • What types of enemies would you like to see added to the game?

- The game has a whimsical vibe to it so maybe silly enemies would fit well.

  • Does the overall movement of the affection slider feel good?

- Yes.

  • Is there any other additions you would like to see?

- Sound effects and some movement of the characters or audience.

What types of cards or upgrades would you like to see?

Some trick cards would be nice. Something like cheating cards.

What types of enemies would you like to see added to the game?

Maybe some easy characters that can be defeated pretty easily. Character wise, it would be cool to have a professional magician.

Does the overall movement of the affection slider feel good?

I think it looks good and feels good.

Is there any other additions you would like to see?

Maybe when defeating enemies, you can learn some card tricks if they have better cards being stronger in some way.

Hey all!

I don't know if this is due to no win/loss state being implemented yet, but it seems like the whole of the Saw a Person In Half card doesn't work, which was very disappointing. Then again, I could see it as a cheap instant win condition when the payer's affection is pretty high.

What cards/abilities would you like to see?

Sticking to the theme, maybe a guess my card/drawing/poster etc card? You know the ones where the magician gets an audience member to come up and guess a thing and lo and behold, there is a thing! It's a cool trick and I feel could be worth a lot due to the audience's engagement, but the problem with it is that it can only be used so many times before the audience affection gained from it begins falling off.

What types of enemies would you like to see?

An enemy that knows tricks you do not, which would eventually (when you figure out how to beat them) show you the tricks they did, granting you new cards. I don't know if you guys thought of that sort of progression, though, so if you have, then it is a great idea!

Does the movement of the slider feel good?

Not going to lie, it does not. Every time I felt like I was making progress towards beating my opponent, the bar went right back down to the middle, though it never seemed to go lower. I hope this changes, because it was very frustrating to play against. In terms of the fluidity of the slider, though, that felt fine and the bar looked like it worked properly as I gained and lost audience affection.

Other additions?

Animations, even small pixel art animations, would be great. I don't know if you guys plan to add them in, but it would make the game more visually appealing if you did.

Good job on the first draft of the game, guys!

This is actually lowkey difficult and I'm kind of upset how terrible I am at this.
In terms of cards:
-A stun card.

What type of enemies?

-Gandalf (He's a wizard. Magician and wizard are not the same thing thus, the joke of it all.)

While we are at it..

-Saruman

Does the slider feel good?

Like butter.

Any additions?

Maybe a terrible laughing/cheering sound when the player is winning and a booing sound when the player is losing.

  • What types of cards or upgrades would you like to see?

Weaken - next enemy card does less affection

Discard - forces enemy to discard highest energy card

Recharge -  X energy, get 2X energy n turns from now

Poison - reduces the enemy energy by X for n turns

Energy steal - steals enemy energy

  • What types of enemies would you like to see added to the game?

Aggro enemy, overwhelms with cheap cards

Charge enemy, saves its energy for huge affliction turns

Brick, slowly forces your card slots to be stationary (the card in the slot must be played before the slot cycles now). The longer you take to clear a slot the more slots stack up

Poison,  but against you

  • Does the overall movement of the affection slider feel good?

Yeah looks good.

  • Is there any other additions you would like to see?

None currently, just keep building on it, looks cool! Good job!

  • What types of cards or upgrades would you like to see?

Maybe trap cards like in Yu-gi-oh, If the enmy does a trick then it nagites or it takes way points...

  • What types of enemies would you like to see added to the game?

comedian magician

  • Does the overall movement of the affection slider feel good?

I dont realy under stand what it is doing.

  • Is there any other additions you would like to see?

I think I need to see more of the game to give input on this.

  • What types of cards or upgrades would you like to see?

I would like to see more tricks added, there's all kinds of tricks out there

  • What types of enemies would you like to see added to the game?
  • Maybe the different opponents could favor different styles of magic, like cardistry, mentalists and more
  • Does the overall movement of the affection slider feel good?

It's alright.  I think that if I select cards to fast it makes my cards negative?  I'm not sure though.

  • Is there any other additions you would like to see?

I would like a bit of ambient music, maybe the occasional noise from the audience for atmosphere.  Having the tricks visualized would be nice as well.

  • What types of cards or upgrades would you like to see?

I would like to see something that would alter your opponent's affection rating. Or maybe a protection spell so their next turn is nullified.

  • What types of enemies would you like to see added to the game?

I think it would be really cool to have an easter egg where you fight Penn and Teller or something.

  • Does the overall movement of the affection slider feel good?

It looks nice! Maybe if you could add a magicky animation whenever the bar moves? Like basic sparkles or something

  • Is there any other additions you would like to see?

I would love to see art for the cards rather than just the black boxes. Not necessarily unique pics for all of them, but more card-like.

  • What types of cards or upgrades would you like to see?

I guess just different types of cards? I think the variety of cards are all roughly the same at the moment, and could just use some more interesting ones. I don't have any particular ideas in mind.

  • What types of enemies would you like to see added to the game?

Maybe a "glass cannon" type would be interesting, as in they can really easily defeat you but they are also pretty defeatable.

  • Does the overall movement of the affection slider feel good?

I think so. It was clear and responsive.

  • Is there any other additions you would like to see?

Nothing in particular. I think the game just feels a bit one dimensional at the moment, and could use almost any different kind of mechanic to make it more interesting.

(1 edit)

What types of cards or upgrades would you like to see?

Cards that come at a short term loss for a long term benefit. e.g. "Misdirect":  the enemy magician gets a small percentage increase to his affection on the following turn but the player gets a larger increase on his following turn. Similarly, a card where the player can risk decreasing the enemy magician's affection next turn with a small chance it significantly decreases their own.  Cards that have persistent effects.

What types of enemies would you like to see added to the game?

Off-brand real magicians. David Plain (David Blaine), Kris Angle (Chris Angel), Pencil & Shouter (Penn  & Teller), etc.

Does the overall movement of the affection slider feel good?

I think some particle effects would be a nice addition. Or even some shaking of the bar when significant affection increase/decrease occurred.

Is there any other additions you would like to see?

Real comments: When you win a match, you should be able to spend affection/money earned on items or cards that will impact future matches. Additionally, different 'stages' could have different impacts on how much affection certain cards play out. E.g. a "saw in half card" might do well on the "grand stage", but not as much at "child's birthday party", whereas the reverse might be true for a card like "Pull rabbit from hat"

Meme comment: The audience should move when you win like the hands at the end of this video.

Small comment about development. I think you guys are using normal Unity Text and it's causing the font to come out a bit blurry. Using TextMeshPro will avoid this issue and produce clearer font. If this is just happening on my end or to be fixed ignore this bit.

lol at the magician names

  • What types of cards or upgrades would you like to see?
I am not sure if it is planned that you shuffle your hand each turn if it is an upgrade of keeping maybe 1 or 2 cards from the last hand could be very good gameplaywise. I think some sort of "Final act card could be interesting where it gives a flat affection amount and takes all of your current points and multiplies the affection by the number of points you have (the card overall should be pretty strong)
  • What types of enemies would you like to see added to the game?
    Dark magician
  • Does the overall movement of the affection slider feel good?
I think its fine, but some sort of animation on the enemy getting hit with the move like -10 affection and a slash through them would make the slider feel that much better.
  • Is there any other additions you would like to see?
Not anything more than the card I described above.

    -Jarek

  • What types of cards or upgrades would you like to see?
    • I'd like to see secondary bars that build up, maybe that's already planned
  • What types of enemies would you like to see added to the game?
    • Maybe a heckler?
  • Does the overall movement of the affection slider feel good?
    • It feels ok, but doesn't seem to track when you get the opposition into the negatives
